| Description | A weekly drop in program for pregnant women and new mothers in the New Tecumseth area. The program encourages a healthy pregnancy by providing free nutritious supplemental foods and a milk coupon to low income participants and or lone parents, new immigrants, socially isolated, etc... to help meet the prenatal and postnatal needs of mother and child. Food preparation demonstrations are held, leading to the creation of a healthy snack which is enjoyed by participants during program. Provides information and education on the needs of women and their families, and information regarding community services. Provides a friendly atmosphere to interact with other new mothers. Provides the opportunity to speak with on site community support people such as a health nurse, dietitian,etc. Free quality children's program is provided for those over a year and siblings who are under the age of 7. Community partners involved in this initiative are Local Hospitals and Health Centres, Ontario Early Years Centres, Simcoe County District Health Unit, Simcoe County Infant Development Program,Midwives, Community Action Program for Children (children's programming), Local Businesses, Agencies, Churches Service Clubs, and Community Volunteers and others. | |||
