| Description | Candlelighters Simcoe is a support organization for parents whose child or teen has been diagnosed with cancer * mission is to empower families on their journey lighting the way by providing hope, support and education * provide parents with knowledge of library and other community resources, a quarterly newsletter, social events for the whole family and networking with other organizations * provide telephone support, hospital, home visits and monthly parent support group meetings * during support group meetings for parents an expressive art program is available for children * offers school support program/school advisory services and provides family care packages at diagnosis and Christmas baskets for families whose child is on active treatment * monthly teen social group * offers weekly art therapy program * part of a national and provincial organization serving families by providing information, engaging in advocacy and encouraging and assisting in the development of parent support groups
Christmas Care Program: care packages for families affected by cancer and dealing with cancer treatments during the holidays * donations of baked goods, homemade or store bought, toys, grocery store gift cards, movie passes etc. are accepted |
