Description & Services
DescriptionProvides training, consultation, and resource development to teaching staff and school board personnel, working in Ontario's publicly funded schools, to support school-aged children who have been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) * enhances the knowledge and skills of school board staff in evidence-based teaching strategies to support students with ASD in the classroom 
 
Serves as a link between schools, Boards of Education, community-based service agencies and Transition Coordinators regarding issues pertaining to students 
with an ASD 
 
Provides transition based services for children with an ASD transitioning from Intensive behaviour Intervention (IBI) services into publicly funded schools as part of the Connections for Students initiative 
 
Kinark administers the SSP-ASD for the Central East Region of the Province, in Simcoe, York, Haliburton, Peterborough, and Durham counties * other consultants serve these areas
