| Description | The Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre (SMRCC) at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre is a 75,000 square foot facility designed for the assessment and treatment of cancer * SMRCC is the only cancer centre between Sudbury and Newmarket and is one of 14 centres of its kind in Ontario providing specialized and comprehensive care for residents from throughout the region SMRCC features 34 chemotherapy treatment spaces with views of gardens and green space, including bedside computing/patient entertainment system * chemotherapy clinic also includes two private spaces and an isolation room for patient safety along with the most advanced technology, including Canada’s first Robotic Intravenous Automation System or RIVA which ensures the safe, consistent, individualized preparation of chemotherapy medication Staff of the SMRCC consist of a highly specialized team of healthcare professionals, including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists , nurse practitioners, a general practitioner in cancer care and nurses with specialized cancer training * dedicated oncology pharmacists and technicians, physiotherapists, social workers, nurse navigators, radiation therapists, a physiotherapist and a clinical dietitian also work as part of the interdisciplinary team for cancer patients | |||
