Description (Service) Alcoholics Anonymous. The primary purpose of A.A. is to carry a message of recovery (12 step program) to the alcoholic seeking help to maintain sobriety. As an organization we distribute folders, go to jails, detox, hospitals and schools to describe A.A. to specific groups. Liaise with doctors and other professionals. aiting period is the next meeting. Meeting times vary with each location. Each group is run by its own members.
