Description & Services
DescriptionHousing Services is a department of the Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care, working to improve access to safe affordable housing and supports for people with serious mental illness. We do that in a variety of ways.

We are responsible for the local provision of services offered under the province-wide Homes for Special Care Program (HSC), Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. The HSC Program aims to support people coming out of a psychiatric hospital who are unable to live on their own. All HSC Homes are privately owned and operated. Homes are located in various areas throughout Simcoe County and Muskoka.

We provide annual licensing, as well as regular inspection and monitoring of the Homes.
Supports to residents include:
* 24 hour supervision
* room and board
* financial assistance for clothing, dental, medication, eye care, social recreation, transportation
* a variety of supports, on an as needed basis.

Housing Services also works closely with our internal and external partners to identify barriers to accessing safe affordable housing in the community. We are active on a variety of community projects related to Housing, including the Simcoe County Alliance to End Homeless and the establishment of local emergency/transitional housing for North Simcoe.
